How to measure a cardboard box

All cardboard box suppliers and manufacturers measure boxes in the same way find out how here.

Ensuring you get your measurements right when getting a quote for a bespoke box is understandably important. Fortunately measuring a box is really simple when you know how.

All cardboard box suppliers and manufacturers measure boxes in the same way and dimensions are always presented in the same way. Box measurements always correspond to the internal box dimensions to ensure the product to be packaged has a good and protective fit.

When measuring the internal dimensions of a cardboard box the dimensions are always presented as

Length (mm) x Width (mm) x Height (mm) - always in this order
  • Length - The longer dimension at the opening of the box.
  • Width - The shorted dimension at the opening of the box.
  • Height - The dimension from the top of the opening to the base of the box.
